Description: Welcome to a new year of ART EPLORATION! Our focus this year promises to be a lot messier than last year, as we investigate various kinds of sculpture and printing. Both disciplines involve not just creativity but also pre-planning, problem-solving, trial and error, math, engineering, science, design, and time management. At this point in the planning for next year, sculpture projects would include but not limited to plaster, clay, wire, cardboard, paper mâché, and found objects. If the weather and church administration permits, we may also be able to pull off some snow sculpting. This past January’s World’s Snow Sculpting Championship in Stillwater, MN, was quite an inspiration … and free! Maybe next year we could … Along with sculpture we will also experiment with several kinds of printing with an occasion to print on fabric or clothing. Solar printing, carved linoleum printing, type face, printing with “found” and/or objects from nature or food, and creating personal logos, are just a few of our planned projects. You might want to save a blank T-shirt or two or some plain colored fabric for some of these opportunities. With all our projects we will continue to fold in “The Seven Elements of Art,” “The 12 Principles of Design,” and color study to increase the quality of our work. Where there are artists that have spearheaded and excelled in the various disciplines and media, we will examine their work for inspiration. We may get messy, but we’ll grow in
creativity and learn A LOT!
I cannot wait for you to sign up for this class!
