Tutor: Christina Sluka
|Length: Full Year||Class Period: Thursday, 9:45 - 1:45|
Description: In this class students remain together for periods 2 through 5, which is typical for a first grade class experience. Classic children's literature is read aloud and provides the context for what students are learning in language arts, social studies, science, and art. There will be opportunities to work collaboratively with hands-on and group activities as well as individually. One primary group collaborative will be presenting a Thanksgiving Readers Theater to family members. Students will also have a Bible read-aloud, snack and sharing time, and intermittent games. The teacher will adjust the schedule to best meet the needs of the students throughout the day. Each child will prepare per semester one topic to share with the class. This class provides students a unique opportunity to build friendships while discovering new things about God, His world, and their role in it.
Snacks, Lunch, and Water Bottles: Children can bring a water bottle and a simple, healthy snack. Apple slices, a banana, or cut vegetables are great options. Students will also need to bring a sack lunch and will be supervised during their lunch period.
Covid - 19 Contingency Plan - In the event that we are forced to transition to online classes at any point in the school year, this class will meet on zoom at the same scheduled time as class, Thursday from 9:45-11:30 am and 12-1:45 pm.
This class runs from 9:45 - 1:45, which is reflected in the tuition amount listed
on the registration form. Contact
