Description:  Fall semester we will explore the anatomy and physiology of the human body with Apologia. Spring semester we will explore chemistry with Real Science 4 Kids, Newton's Laws with Backyard Ballistics, and encourage thinking skills. Since children learn best by doing, around half of the class time each week will incorporate hands-on experiments and activities such as making a model of a cell with Jello and various candies, dissecting a sheep heart, and launching a water rocket. Some weeks will require going outside.

Note:  This class spans 2 grade levels. Students will have new content each year.

Tutor: Laura Kirkwold has a B.S. in biochemistry from the University of Minnesota College of Biological Sciences. After graduation she worked in the research lab at the University of Minnesota Dental School. She has four graduated and working young adults. She has been teaching at CHAT since 2007.
