(Grades 3-4)
Tutor: Laura Kirkwold
Length: Full Year Class Period: Thursday, eCHAT period 1 (9:00-10:00) or period 5 (12:45-1:45)  (Choose one)

Description:  We will explore simple machines (inclined planes, levers, pulleys, gears) with K'NEX, and physics with Real Science 4 Kids and Critical Thinking first semester. Second semester we will explore astronomy with Apologia. Since children learn best by doing, around half of the class time each week will incorporate hands-on experiments and activities. The focus here is to make science fun and hands-on.

Covid - 19 Contingency Plan - In the event that we are forced to transition to online classes at any point in the school year, this class will continue to be held.  See the adjusted 3-day schedule for the meeting time.

Tutor: Laura Kirkwold has a B.S. in biochemistry from the University of Minnesota College of Biological Sciences. After graduation she worked in the research lab at the University of Minnesota Dental School. She has four graduated and working young adults. She has been teaching at CHAT since 2007.
