Dear New CHAT and eCHAT Families,

Welcome! We are excited for a new school year and happy you will be joining our CHAT family!  Classes start Aug. 28th and 29th!

Since we want students to feel comfortable and ready for classes, we'd like to invite you (parents and students) to our New Family Orientation Meeting on Monday, Aug. 26th in the Cross of Glory Worship Center.

· eCHAT students (grades K-2): 9:30

· eCHAT students (grades 3-6): 10:00

· CHAT students (grades 7-12): 10:45

If you have students in both the 3-6 and 7-12 grades, feel free to come just to the 3-6 orientation and then see me afterwards for the ‘add-on’ info for 7-12th graders.

Once school starts, we will ONLY be using Door 2 for coming and going. For the Orientation, both sets of doors will be unlocked, so feel free to come in either entrance. After the meeting, you are welcome to walk through the halls to find your students’ classrooms. There won't be any tutors there, but just locating the classrooms might be helpful for your student.   Room assignments will be posted online before the Open House, and we'll send you an email when that happens.

If you are not able to make it to the orientation, please let me know.  I would love to meet with your student the first week of school.   Please email me if your student would find this helpful. (Lauragj7@gmail.com)

A few quick reminders - - we will go over these in more detail at the orientation meeting:

·       You will receive an email when the parent volunteer site is up and running. Be sure to pick a spot to volunteer this semester if you didn't buy-out at the time of registration.

·       Student pictures will be taken during the first week of school. All students must get their picture taken for their school IDs. There is an option to purchase school pictures, but there’s no pressure to do so. You will receive a separate email with more details soon. Family members are welcome to get school pictures taken as well. If you are missing the first week of school, there will be a make-up option or we are fine with you sending in a headshot of your student.  Details will be in another email.

·       There will be a name tag for each student to wear the first week of class which can be picked up on a table inside Door 2.  IDs will be ready for students the third week of school.

·       It is important that parents understand our Code of Conduct and the policies found in our Handbook. When you registered, you all checked the box that indicated you had read our Handbook. If you haven't done so, please be sure to do that before school starts.

·       I hope you have all made a list and started purchasing the books and supplies you will need for each class. If you have not seen that on our website yet, there are 2 ways to find it. Either look under CLASSES>CLASS LIST (either CHAT or eCHAT) and then click on an individual class OR click on the class name from the online schedule. This will bring you to each class’s information, and at the bottom of that page you will find supplies needed for that class.

·       If you are ever feel like you missed an email or you are looking for some information you remember seeing in an email somewhere, we have all our August emails and weekly emails here:  http://www.chatclasses.com/emailtrail24-25.html.  We suggest bookmarking this page so you don’t have to look for this email every time. (:

·       Since CHAT doesn’t regularly plan field trips, we encourage our families to check out WINGS of Grace. They plan field trips and provide support for homeschooling parents in the south metro area. You can find them here: www.homeschool-life.com/mn/wingsatgTrace/ .

·       Take a look at the few things I’ve attached to this email:

    • Map of Cross of Glory to help you navigate the first weeks of school
    • A map of the parking lot to show you the procedure for dropping off, picking up, and parking.
    • CHAT’s sick policy . . . when not to send your student to school.

We take keeping our kids safe at CHAT seriously.  We pray for protection and prepare for the unexpected. I will review our security procedures at the Orientation.

I think that's enough information for you now. Look for more emails from us. . . so much to tell you. (:

Enjoy the rest of your summer and we look forward to seeing you at the Orientation.

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions (email or phone).
