Description:  Students will sing, move, play instruments, and work together in a joyful, hands-on environment as they explore rhythm, melody, and creativity. Through games, songs, and a whole bunch of fun, they will develop steady beat, basic notation skills, and expressive performance while building confidence and collaboration. Students will listen to and create music, discover how sound can tell stories, connect to different cultures and experiences, and explore new composers as they prepare for their Christmas and Spring concerts.

Snacks and Water Bottles:  Children should bring a water bottle every week and a healthy snack to eat at the beginning of class, such as apple slices, cut veggies, or a protein snack. Children should be able to open/peel their snack on their own.

Students will be invited to perform with their class for the Christmas program and spring showcase.

Vocal coach/director: Kayla Depoian is a licensed K-6 teacher with a minor in special education and a masters degree in teaching and learning.  She originally thought she’d be in the classroom forever. But God had other plans! After becoming a mom to three girls, she found a new calling in homeschooling!

Her love for music started early. She’s been singing since she got her first microphone at just three years old. From choir and solo ensemble to musicals and large theater productions, music has always been a big part of her life. She spent 13 years on her church’s worship team as a co-worship leader and still loves performing at live events across the midwest with her husband, Chris.

She’s excited to help students find their voices, grow in confidence, and most of all - have fun making music together!

Cost:  $162, $172 or $182 per semester (depending on registration date)
